New York State Troopers PBA presents Griffo with Sen. Walter J. Mahoney Award
July 17, 2019
UTICA – New York State Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joseph Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, was honored today by the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association and presented with the Sen. Walter J. Mahoney Award. New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association Delegate Dominick Pedulla presented Deputy Minority Leader Griffo with the award.
The award is given annually to an elected official who has demonstrated through words and actions his or her commitment to the men and women of the New York State Police and public safety in New York State. Sen. Walter J. Mahoney, the inspiration for this award, was an active proponent of improving the working conditions of New York State Troopers in the 1940s and 1950s. This is the ninth year the award has been presented.
“It is an honor to be this year’s recipient of the Sen. Walter J. Mahoney Award and to represent and advocate for the brave men and women who serve others as state troopers and in law enforcement across the state,” Deputy Minority Leader Griffo said. “Every day, New York State Troopers, as do all law enforcement and first responders, demonstrate remarkable dedication, bravery and courage by putting their own lives on the live to serve the public, protect our communities and keep our families safe. For all that they do, we are eternally grateful and appreciative.”
“Since his election in 2007, Deputy Minority Leader Griffo has been a consistent friend of the law enforcement community, especially New York State Troopers,” New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association President Thomas H. Mungeer said. “We look forward to working with him in the future.”
The New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association serves more than 6,000 retired and active, uniformed members of the New York State Police from the rank of Trooper through the rank of Major.
