Sen. Griffo to serve on main budget conference committee
March 15, 2019
ALBANY – With budget negotiations underway in Albany, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joseph Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, announced today that he is serving on the state Legislature’s main Budget Conference Committee. Other members of the committee include other legislative leaders such as Senate Minority Leader John Flanagan, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb.
“I am concerned that the recent budget proposals will add billions of dollars in new taxes and fees and that the Governor and Democratic legislative leaders are at odds over what should or should not be included in the final State Budget,” Sen. Griffo said. “The bottom line is too many residents and businesses are fleeing our state because they are overtaxed and burdened by onerous regulations. We should be finding ways to invest more in education and infrastructure, as well as providing real and meaningful tax relief so that residents and business owners don’t have to look elsewhere for a better life and more opportunity.”
