Additional State Funding Secured for Malverne Public Library Ahead of 2020 Census
September 27, 2019
(Malverne, NY) -- State Senator Kevin Thomas (D-Nassau) was joined by Senator Todd Kaminsky and Assemblywoman Judy Griffin to announce $3,500 in additional state funding for the Malverne Public Library.
The bullet aid funding is being used to update the operating systems of the library’s PC computers, as well as replace some of the oldest computers. The much-needed upgrades come as libraries are gearing up for the 2020 Census, which kicks off next April.
“With the 2020 Census coming up, we are expecting even heavier use of these computers, more than ever before,” said Library Director Carol Lagos. “Upgrading [the computers] allows us to stay current with release updates on a regular basis, and provide Ransomware and malware protection.”
Senator Kevin Thomas said, “The Malverne Public Library has done a wonderful job of providing much-needed programming and services to the community, and I am proud to support them with this additional funding."
Senator Todd Kaminsky said, “The Malverne Public Library is a pillar of our community, educating, inspiring, and empowering our neighbors of all ages through the power of learning. That is why I was proud to partner with Senator Thomas and Assemblywoman Griffin to secure a $3,500 bullet aid grant for the Library to purchase new computers for the patrons to use. I am confident that these new technological enhancements will make the Malverne Library an even better epicenter of learning for our entire community.
Assemblywoman Judy Griffin said, “Libraries are an important, vibrant and supportive resource at the center of our communities. I was proud to help secure this funding so that the Malverne Public Library will continue inspiring young minds and supporting residents of all ages.”
