Senator Kevin Thomas to Co-Chair Public Hearing on Housing Discrimination on Long Island

(Hempstead, NY) Senator Kevin Thomas, Chairman of the Committee on Consumer Protection, will co-chair a joint public hearing on housing discrimination on Long Island. The hearing is a direct response to a Newsday investigation concerning racial discrimination and evidence of unequal treatment by real estate agents on Long Island. Senator Thomas will be joined by Senate Committee Chairs Brian Kavanagh and James Skoufis.
Senator Thomas said, "Discrimination has no place in our communities. We cannot and will not accept unequal treatment of home buyers anywhere on Long Island. This hearing is an opportunity for us to further investigate the situation and identify steps we can take to ensure a fair experience for all home buyers on the Island.”
