After Gianaris Calls for Poll Sites, Board of Elections Doubles Queens Early Voting Locations
May 30, 2019
ASTORIA, N.Y. – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris made the following statement after the New York City Board of Elections heeded his call to add more early voting poll sites throughout Queens. Earlier this month, Senator Gianaris urged the Board to expand the number of sites from the proposed seven.
"I am glad more voters will have the chance to vote early now that additional poll sites have been added,” said Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris.“While we need even more going forward, doubling the initial proposal is a step in the right direction.”
The Board of Elections initially proposed less than 40 poll sites across the City of New York for the 2019 general election, with just seven being in Queens. With today’s announcement, the number in the borough will increase to 14. In the Senator’s western Queens district, a site will be added at the Museum of the Moving Image in addition to LaGuardia Community College.
