Statement on State of the State
Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer
January 16, 2019
Albany, NY– State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer (R-C-I, Amherst) has issued the following statement in response to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s 2019 State of the State Address & 2019-2020 Executive Budget Proposal:
“Today’s presentation failed to acknowledge Upstate New York’s well-documented population decline and outline real solutions to address our economic challenges. Almost one million residents have exited New York since 2010, and high taxes and lack of jobs are to blame.
“Only fixing New York’s affordability crisis will reverse this trend. It’s time to provide substantial tax relief to hardworking taxpayers, reduce regulations for small businesses and lower property taxes for homeowners.
“The mass exodus of New Yorkers will not end until these issues are addressed. I am deeply concerned that many of these issues–critical to Upstate New York– will be pushed to the back burner now that New York City Democrats control all three branches of state government.”
