FAYETTE – Senator Pam Helming recently honored the 25 local women who were nominated for the New York State Senate Women of Distinction Award during a ceremony at Ventosa Vineyards. The women, who hail from all parts of Senator Helming’s district, were celebrated for a variety of accomplishments and contributions they have made in their families and careers and through their community service. Senator Helming presented each nominee with a New York State Senate Citation recognizing their achievements and a plaque containing their photo and biography.
“Our region is fortunate to have so many remarkable women whose lives, work, and accomplishments have contributed to making our community, state, and country better, making our families stronger, and serving as examples to others. These women include Donna Schaertl, my 2017 Woman of Distinction who tirelessly supports law enforcement groups and other community organizations, and Huron Town Supervisor Laurie Crane, my 2018 Woman of Distinction who courageously fought for her community after the Lake Ontario flooding disaster. This year, I received wonderful nominations for 25 truly outstanding and inspirational women who have dedicated their lives to helping the people around them through their families, careers, and community service. It was a privilege to celebrate these women and honor the incredible work they do each and every day. Thank you to everyone who made this ceremony possible,” Senator Helming said.
