Senator Helming: Paving at Fair Haven State Park
October 10, 2019
Senator Pam Helming recently visited Fair Haven State Park as paving began at the entrance and parking lots of the park. At the request of the local community, she secured $200,000 in Capital Assistance funds to make this project a reality. Officials in the Town of Sterling and the Village of Fair Haven identified the park as an asset for the local economy and tourism and highlighted the need to perform this work. She was joined by Regional Parks Director Fred Bonn,Engineer Larry Mauser, Sterling Supervisor June Smith, Mayor of Fair Haven Jim Basile and Deputy Mayor of Fair Haven Walter Krehlin.
“It was great to see the work getting underway! Improving the park has been a top priority of the local community for the past several years. The park brings thousands of visitors to the area every year and is enjoyed by local residents and tourists alike. It is important to invest in maintaining our parks as they are key for the success of our tourism promotion efforts and improve the quality of life for local taxpayers. New York State Parks has been a terrific partner in getting this project completed and I encourage community members to visit the park and see the work that has been done over the past several years,” said Senator Helming.
