Senator Helming Visits Ontario County Jail

Senator Pam Helming recently toured the Ontario County Jail with Chief Christian Smith and Sheriff Kevin Henderson During this tour, Senator Helming saw various areas of the jail including the intake and processing area, medical area, the control center and the kitchen. Chief Smith and Sheriff Henderson discussed with Senator Helming the treatment of inmates and the various services the jail offers including medical and mental health, education and religious services.
“Touring the Ontario County Jail and learning about the day to day operations provided a great opportunity to learn what we can do to enhance public safety in Ontario County. I remain committed to protecting the safety of our corrections officers and advocating for the resources and services they need. They have one of the toughest jobs in law enforcement and it’s important that they know they have our support and appreciation. Thank you to Chief Smith and Sheriff Henderson for this tour,” Senator Helming said.
