Senator Gallivan Recognizes SUNY Geneseo Swim Team

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) presented Senate Proclamations to ten members of the SUNY Geneseo Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams during a ceremony held at the Livingston County Country Club on Friday. The athletes traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina in March to participate in the 2019 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship.
"Congratulations to the Knights who represented Geneseo and the entire SUNY system at last month’s NCAA Championship,” Senator Gallivan said. “Your hard work and dedication to your sport is a source of pride for your teammates, your family, your fellow students and the entire Geneseo community. Today we celebrate your achievements and thank you for representing the best that SUNY Geneseo has to offer.”
Athletes recognized by Senator Gallivan include; Kiersten Coates, Maddie Knight, Kelly Lennon, Nancy Nasky, Deidra Osula, Samantha Reichman, Lauren Siegel, Noelle Staso, Alyssa Vadala and Corey Wirth.
During the tournament, four members of the women’s team earned All-American status. Overall, the women's swimming & diving team placed 19th out of 50 teams.
SUNY Geneseo Athletic Director Mike Mooney, Diving Coach Shawn Austin, Assistant Swim Coach Emily Smith and Geneseo Supervisor Will Wadsworth also attended Friday’s ceremony.
Head Coach Paul Dotterweich was out of town and unable to attend.
SUNY Geneseo is located in the 59th Senate District, which is represented by Senator Gallivan.
