January 29, 2019

State Senator Robert E. Antonacci II, CPA, Esq., (Onondaga, R-I-C-UJP) voted for a bill (S.1904) that would make the property tax cap permanent, a measure which passed the State Senate last week.

In 2011 New York created a property tax cap that limits the growth of tax levies to the level of inflation, capped at 2%.The property tax cap has been effective at generating savings for property owners and businesses. In the first three years in New York the property tax cap has saved $2.6 billion and is projected to save more than $11.4 billion over the first ten years of implementation.

“New York consistently ranks as the highest taxed state in the country and I pledged to vote to make the tax cap permanent to bring some relief to the taxpayers of not only my district but across the state,” said Senator Antonacci. “We must continue the fight to curb the tax and spend mentality that has driven businesses and people out of New York State.”

The bill has been delivered to the Assembly and awaits action by that body. ”I urge my Assembly colleagues to take up this bill quickly and bring permanent tax relief to the people of New York,” said Senator Antonacci.

Senator Antonacci represents the 50th Senate District, which includes parts of Onondaga County and parts of Cayuga County. He is a Certified Public Accountant and an attorney.
