Senator Persaud Hosts Free Shredding Event for the Community
September 28, 2019
Senator Persaud's free shredding event, held in partnership with Councilmember Alan Maisel, Assemblymember Nick Perry and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), occurred on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at her District Office located at 1222 E. 96th St, Brooklyn, NY 11236. The Department of Environmental Protection, NYPD Community Affairs and the Department of Sanitation were also on site sharing important resources and information with attendees. Over a hundred people came by to participate and nearly 50 bins of paper, which was the maximum amount the truck could hold, were shredded.
"It is important to securely discard documents containing sensitive information so we protect ourselves from identity theft and fraud; also, it is always essential we recycle our papers as well," Senator Persaud said. "Thank you to everyone who attended, and to our partners for assisting me in putting on this beneficial community event. We will continue to hold events like this that help the community, and I hope to see many of our residents again soon."
