Veteran, Longtime Community Member from Senate District 19 Inducted into Senate Hall of Fame

On May 21, the Senate held their Veterans' Hall of Fame ceremony for this year's inductees. The Hall of Fame was created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from the State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life. The inductee from Senator Persaud's District (19) was PFC Henry A. Bolus.
Mr. Bolus attended Brooklyn College and Kingsborough Community College before serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict as a paratrooper with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team and the 11th Airborne Division from 1951 to 1955 - Rank, Private First Class. A valuable community activist, Mr. Bolus worked with local units of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America and Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Club, Inc. He also serves in Community Board 18, the Board of Directors of Cypress Hills and Canarsie Cemeteries, Canarsie Memorial Day Parade, Knights of Columbus, United Parents Fraternal and Informed Voices of Canarsie. Additionally, he is an elected delegate to the New York State Judicial Convention and past president of the 69th Community Council.
In recognition of his exemplary work, Mr. Bolus received a commendation from Congressman Edolphus Towns, a proclamation from New York City Council, recognition from Friends United Block Association, an Associate Alumni membership from North Carolina A&T College Alumni, and an Outstanding Community Service Award by the Kings County District Attorney. He is also a recipient of the New York State Senate Liberty Award.
