STACEY TOMPKINS NAMED SENATE ‘WOMAN OF DISTINCTION’
May 9, 2019
ALBANY, NY—Senator Sue Serino today announced that Stacey Tompkins, President of Tompkins Excavating in Putnam Valley, has been named the 2019 ‘Woman of Distinction’ for the 41st Senate District.
“Stacey is a true trailblazer whose work and leadership has been effectively shaping communities here in our local area and well beyond for years,” said Senator Sue Serino. “Having begun her career with Tompkins Excavating in 1991, Stacey quickly made her mark at a time when few women were entering the industry. Since taking the helm as the company’s President, Stacey has worked to successfully turn her small family lawn mowing business into the thriving enterprise that it is today, empowering those around her along the way. Her emphasis on teamwork in her own business has led to extensive community involvement, and I am honored to have the opportunity to recognize her as the 41st Senate District’s 2019 ‘Woman of Distinction.’”
The State Senate’s ‘Woman of Distinction’ event celebrates women from across the state who contribute significantly to improving the quality of life for New Yorkers. The annual event honors one woman from each State Senate District and on Tuesday, May 7th, Tompkins was recognized at an evening ceremony in Albany, alongside 61 other remarkable women.
According to her biography that was publicly featured at the event, under her leadership, Tompkins Excavating has been involved with many charitable endeavors, including Support Connection, Habitat for Humanity, Putnam Valley Central School District, Jan Peek House, Community Cares of Mahopac, the Community Center of Northern Westchester, Project Yellow Light and the Lustgarten Foundation.
An active member of regional business councils, chambers of commerce and other business groups, Stacey has leveraged her experience to help empower other women in business, local entrepreneurs and area students interested in pursuing careers here in the local community.
Stacey is a resident of Putnam Valley where she resides with her husband and three sons, all of whom play an instrumental role in the family business.
