STATE SENATOR ALESSANDRA BIAGGI ISSUES STATEMENT REGARDING 2500 WILLIAMSBRIDGE ROAD
March 5, 2020
BRONX, NY – On Tuesday, March 3rd, New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi was informed that the Carnegie Hill Institute, under the name CHI BRONX LLC, has purchased the lot at 2500 Williamsbridge Road, Bronx, NY 10469. That same day the Senator’s office was informed that as of March 3rd, Carnegie Hill Institute has not submitted an application to OASAS and that no permit has been filed regarding that location.
On March 5th, the Senator’s office contacted Carnegie Hill Institute to learn more about the situation and inquire about the company’s plans for the location, and was unable to reach anyone. The Senator’s office spoke with Community Board 11, and was informed that the Board and other elected officials’ offices had also not received a sufficient response from their outreach to Carnegie Hill.
State Senator Alessandra Biaggi (D-Bronx/Westchester) issued the following statement:
“At this time, very little information has been provided or made available regarding the purchase of the lot at 2500 Williamsbridge Road by the Carnegie Hill Institute. Providing clear and timely information to the community about the intended use for the location will allow Carnegie Hill to share the importance of and rationale for the purchase of the lot, and offer community members the opportunity to weigh in, free from the current speculation and uncertainty. My office will continue our efforts to contact Carnegie Hill, and so that we may gain a better understanding of the situation at hand. Transparency is necessary for building trust, understanding, and strong community ties, and I ask that it is practiced by all parties in regard to the development of 2500 Williamsbridge Road.”
