Senator Kavanagh's Statement on NYC Curfew Being Lifted
June 7, 2020
In response to Mayor Bill de Blasio's announcement on June 7, 2020, that the City would lift a citywide curfew that had been in effect from 8pm to 5am for the past six days, and media reports that thousands of New Yorkers had been arrested during this period for violating the curfew and other minor infractions, Senator Brian Kavanagh issued the following statement via social media.
"Ending the curfew a day earlier than planned is a small start. But will the Mayor and the Police Department drop the charges against everyone arrested solely for violating it or for other nonviolent acts of civil disobedience during the protests? And promptly release anyone held on such charges?"
