On this day and every day, New Yorkers remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom and democracy. Rockland and Westchester are home to many Gold Star families, and the impact on them today does not go forgotten. Memorial Day maybe more difficult this year as we cannot come together to traditionally honor the fallen. There is some solace though, through family the heroic stories and memories of the fallen can live on. Its up to all of us to thank these families in new ways, whether it be online or with a phone call because for them the sacrifice never really ends."
