Skoufis Announces $7.15M in Funding for Road Repairs District-Wide

Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced funding awards to repave roads impacted by extreme weather conditions. This funding is provided through the PAVE NY Initiative and the projects will begin and be completed in 2020.

Senator Skoufis said, “I tirelessly lobbied the Department of Transportation to ensure that our local roadways were prioritized in the PAVE NY initiative. Road safety is a quality of life issue and securing funding for our infrastructure will always be a top issue for me. Whether it’s commuting to work, driving to the supermarket, or traveling through the area, it’s imperative that our roadways are safe to move on for residents and visitors alike.” 

A breakdown of the funding: 

Rockland County: 

• $1.6 million to renew Route 202 from Meade Drive to Route 9W (Haverstraw)

Orange County: 

• $1.5 million to renew Route 211 from Goshen Turnpike to Route 416 (Montgomery)
• $600,000 to renew Route 94 from Route 9W to Old Forge Hill Road (New Windsor)
• $450,000 to renew Route 32 from Union Avenue to Old Temple Hill Road (New Windsor)
• $1.5 million to renew Route 52 from Boniface Dr to Walden Village Line (Crawford/Montgomery)

Ulster County:

• $1.5 million to renew Route 32 from the Orange County line to Route 44/55 (Plattekill)

Total: $7.15 million

In 2019, Skoufis also secured approximately $23.6 million in bridge repairs and replacements, advanced targeted Route 32 maintenance in New Windsor, rehabilitated I-84 in Newburgh, and secured $1.8 million to fully repave Route 32 in Woodbury; the $150 million project to reconfigure Exit 131 in Woodbury was also completed in late 2019.
