Skoufis Donates Convalescent Plasma Following COVID-19 Recovery

This week, Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) donated convalescent plasma to the New York Blood Center, one month after recovering from Coronavirus.  Plasma taken from those who have recovered from COVID-19 contains antibodies from the virus, which may be able to assist others who are battling the disease.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in New York, there have been severe shortages in blood supplies and donations throughout the state, including in the Hudson Valley. Skoufis is encouraging those who have recovered from COVID-19 to consider donating their plasma as well as anyone else who can to donate blood. 

“Donating plasma at the New York Blood Center was a safe, easy, and small sacrifice on behalf of our neighbors who are continuing to struggle with Coronavirus,” said Senator Skoufis. “As we continue our collective recovery, thousands of our fellow New Yorkers remain hospitalized with COVID-19 and could use our help. I encourage my constituents, if they are able, to donate plasma or blood at a center near them."
