Senator Skoufis has announced he is providing free mini hand sanitizers for distribution with restaurant takeout and delivery meals across our Senate District. On Tuesday, May 19, 50 local restaurants that responded to Skoufis’ social media outreach will distribute sanitizers to the first 50 customers to place an order. The full list of participating restaurants can be found here.
The foodservice industry is a major employer in the Hudson Valley as many restaurants continue to face hardship and struggle to make ends meet during the pandemic. Skoufis’ initiative attempts to provide a boost to business on May 19 by incentivizing customers to place an order while simultaneously distributing hand sanitizer into our communities
“We are all facing unprecedented challenges and, through the spirit of ingenuity and partnership, we are pushing to get through the pandemic,” said Senator Skoufis. “Our goal with this initiative is to support local small businesses while promoting sound public health. As my staff and I work around the clock on virus-related issues, especially unemployment assistance, we are continuing to develop ways, both small and large, to support our neighbors that have been adversely affected by COVID-19.”
Since the start of the pandemic, Skoufis’ office has helped expedite thousands of unemployment insurance claims and distributed thousands of much-needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to essential workers in our community. He encourages anyone seeking assistance to email skoufis@nysenate.gov or call 845-567-1270.
