Senator Jim Tedisco and Assemblyman Robert Smullen welcomed to the state Capitol and honored with resolutions they passed, the Class D NYS Champion Poland High School Girls Soccer Team and Coach Tom Basel from Herkimer County on Feb. 5th.
Senator Tedisco and Assemblyman Smullen welcomed the Poland Tornadoes to the Senate and Assembly Floors in honor of their 6-1 victory over Section 6 champion Avoca to capture the state title.
The Tornadoes finished the season with a perfect 23-0 record and they garnered a top 50-ranking nationally by MaxPreps.
"The Poland High School Girls Soccer Team are not only champions on the pitch, but off it as well. Just before the team’s final match, the members helped clean up their community which was hit hard by the devastating Halloween flood. This is an outstanding group of scholar/athletes who make the 49th Senate District proud!" said Senator Jim Tedisco.
