October 6, 2020
Greenville, NY...State Senator Jen Metzger (SD-42) this morning held a press conference at Greenville Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps. to announce $50,000 in State and Municipal Facilities Capital (SAM) grant funding awarded by her office. The grant will go toward two LifePak 15 cardiac monitors for Greenville's ambulances to treat cardiac arrest and enable continuous monitoring and transmission of data to the hospital in real time. Joining Senator Metzger for the announcement were Greenville Ambulance Captain Todd VanBuren, Greenville Ambulance President and Greenville Town Councilman Geoffery Stafford, Orange County EMS-1 Deputy Commissioner of Emergency Services Frank Cassanite, and EMS volunteers.
“It is very hard for our all-volunteer emergency medical services to raise the funds they need for emergency equipment, which can be expensive," said Senator Jen Metzger. “This state-of-the-art equipment will save lives in Greenville and surrounding communities that receive mutual aid from Greenville Ambulance Corps., and is an investment of incalculable value."
Greenville Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps. President and Greenville Town Councilman Geoffery Stafford said, “I want to thank Jen Metzger for the $50,000 for the two LifePak 15s-- it helps us and it helps the town. We’re a small town, and funds aren't always readily available and this is a big shot to get it done.”
Greenville Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Captain Todd VanBuren said, “I would like to thank Senator Metzger on behalf of Greenville Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps. for the generous grant in the amount of $50,000. This grant is going towards the purchase of two cardiac monitors that will enable GTVAC EMTs to perform 12 lead ECGs, helping to prepare Garnet Health ahead of time and significantly reducing the time between arriving at the ER doors and when the patient gets to the Cardiac Cath Lab, resulting in a better outcome for the patient.”
Jen Metzger represents the 42nd Senate District, which includes all of Sullivan County and parts of Delaware, Orange, and Ulster Counties. Senator Metzger serves as Chair of the Agriculture Committee and sits on the Environmental Conservation, Education, Health, Energy and Telecommunications, Local Government, Women’s Issues, Domestic Animal Welfare, and Legislative Commission on Rural Resources Committees.
