August 7, 2020
Goshen, NY...On Saturday, Senator Jen Metzger (SD-42) presented a New York State Senate Empire Award to R. I. Suresky & Son, a family-owned and operated car dealership in Goshen that has been in business since 1916. Founder Raymond Isaac "Ike" Suresky ran the company for 43 years before passing the reins to son Harold, a World War II Army veteran, who ran the company for close to 30 years before turning the company over to his son and current President, Joseph.
Joseph Suresky is an advocate for lifelong learning, and partners with Chrysler to offer free college tuition to any employee seeking to further their education. Every year for the past nine years, he and his General Manager Jeff have also worked together to host a luncheon for over 400 veterans on Veteran’s day.
“I had the great pleasure of presenting this third-generation local business leader with an Empire Award, and enjoyed touring the facilities and meeting the staff," said Senator Metzger. “This multi-generational business has shown great commitment to its employees and to the community, and is most deserving of this honor."
Jen Metzger represents the 42nd Senate District, which includes all of Sullivan County and parts of Delaware, Orange, and Ulster Counties. Senator Metzger serves as Chair of the Agriculture Committee and sits on the Environmental Conservation, Education, Health, Energy and Telecommunications, Local Government, Women’s Issues, Domestic Animal Welfare, and Legislative Commission on Rural Resources Committees.
