Sullivan County, NY...Senator Jen Metzger (SD-42) presented Dr. Joyce Conroy, Director of the Roscoe Free Library, with a New York State Senate Commendation Award in recognition of her outstanding civic work at the helm of the library and in her community on Thursday. In addition to her leadership at the library, Dr. Conroy also volunteers for the Ambulance Corp serving Roscoe and as Town Historian.
“Dr. Conroy is one of those people who never stops," said Senator Metzger. "She is always serving her community, whether it's helping to educate and inform community members through her library and Town Historian work, or helping save lives as a first-responder. This award recognizes her many contributions, and her outstanding dedication and commitment, and I thank her for her public service."
Later in the day, Metzger traveled to Liberty to celebrate the Liberty Diner's 30th Anniversary, and presented owners Nick and Helen Tsicaros and their daughter, Irene, with the New York State Senate Empire Award in recognition of their contributions to the community and the local economy.
“The Liberty Diner is a beloved family business, a welcoming stop for Sullivan's many visitors, and a community hub where local organizations meet and where you can find out all the local goings-on. Congratulations to the Tsicaros family on receiving the Empire Award, which is the highest Senate recognition for a business,” said Senator Metzger.
