“What has happened in nursing homes in New York is a terrible tragedy, and we are holding legislative hearings next month to get to the bottom of why so many residents lost their lives during this pandemic. These hearings, together with legislation (S8289B) we passed in May to strengthen preparedness for disease outbreak in residential care facilities, are the first in a series of steps the Legislature will take to protect our most vulnerable residents and improve transparency and accountability in decisions that affect their care."
Today a series of joint legislative hearings on the impact of COVID-19 were announced in NYS, and hearings on Residential Health Care Facilities and COVID-19 will take place on August 3 and August 10. Senator Metzger is a member of the NYS Senate Health Committee, and a complete list of the hearings taking place in the coming weeks is available here.
