Being prepared when disaster strikes can mean the difference between life and death, that is why State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is partnering with Senator James Sanders, Jr. and the American Red Cross to bring a virtual emergency preparedness Zoom webinar to their constituents.
On Thursday, October 22, starting at 5 p.m., Addabbo and Sanders will be joined by Denean Ferguson, the co-chair of Queens Recovery & Resiliency/FRANC to co-host the Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes virtual presentation, which will be open for public participation.
Representatives from the American Red Cross will provide citizens with important information on how to prepare for a disaster such as hurricanes, steps to take if disaster strikes, and how to get back on your feet when things settle down.
At the end of the presentation, there will be a Q&A session where the electeds and community can ask questions to the Red Cross.
“Bringing this virtual information session to our constituents will provide them with the knowledge of what they can do before, during and after a disaster situation hits,” Addabbo said. “We tend to believe that a disaster couldn’t happen to us, but I always think back to Superstorm Sandy and the devastation it brought to a large portion to my district. I want to thank Senator Sanders and the American Red Cross for partnering up on this event to bring life-saving tips to the public.”
“At the American Red Cross, we urge all New Yorkers to take the necessary steps to prepare for the unexpected,” said Mary Barneby, CEO of American Red Cross in Greater NY. “Thank you to Senators Joseph P. Addabbo and James Sanders Jr. as well as Denean Ferguson for making emergency readiness a priority and for helping us bring these critical tools and resources to your respective communities.”
Those interested in participating in the free Zoom webinar can enter Meeting ID: 973 5221 4897 and use the Passcode: 357301 on their Zoom app to join.
