Now that we are beginning to reopen, we must do open more safely

This marks an important day for our city in the fight against the Coronavirus and our vision to return to normal as we enter Phase 1 of the reopening strategy. During this vital step, nearly 400,000 New Yorkers will be returning to work, and they need to be able to do so safely to prevent another spike in COVID-19 cases that would reverse all the progress we have made thus far.
During Phase 1, the following types of businesses will be allowed to reopen with restrictions in place to protect the workers and consumers: Construction, Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting Retail (Limited to curbside or in-store pickup or drop off), Manufacturing, and Wholesale Trade.
One major area of concern during this time is the public transportation system. New Yorkers need to remain vigilant with their social distancing while on trains and buses as they are going to and from work again. This is still a team effort and we need everyone to continue working together to move the city forward.
Now that we have entered Phase 1, I will continue to advocate for more of our local small businesses that can practice public health protocols and measures, to safely reopen as soon as possible.
