Statement on suspension of storm protection study
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.
March 30, 2020
“The decision by the federal government to suspend funding for the US Army Corps of Engineers’ $19 million study on storm protection measures that would protect our coastlines from rising sea levels and storms like Super Storm Sandy — which devastated parts of my district and which some people are still not fully recovered from — is not only wrong, it is terribly irresponsible. I hope to work with the US Army Corps of Engineers and elected officials in the federal government to see this study resumed and ensure that we are prepared and protected for when another massive storm hits our shores.”
