Senator Parker's Statement On The Recent Earthquake's In Puerto Rico
January 7, 2020
My prayers go out to everyone living in Puerto Rico and those directly and indirectly affected by the recent earthquakes. This is a time for us to band together as New Yorkers, Americans, and just as a people to help our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters.
I applaud Governor Cuomo for making the decision to deploy personnel from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to Puerto Rico to restore power and provide technical support to the island. Going forward, we must put a plan in place to position Puerto Rico to better deal with future natural disasters as they are becoming more prevalent by the day.
