Brooklyn, NY (7/15/20) - On Wednesday, July 15, State Senator Kevin Parker organized several grocery distributions throughout Central Brooklyn. Over 500 boxes of groceries were handed out to residents in Glenwood Houses, Flatbush Gardens, and around his District Office located at 3021 Tilden Avenue. The event was in partnership with Fresh Direct and was the second grocery distribution this summer.
Senator Parker expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to work with Fresh Direct for another successful distribution, “Fresh Direct has generously offered their time and resources to help feed those in our community, in need of extra help during this time.” He continued, “I’m very happy to have the chance to provide resources to the residents of the 21st Senate district during this time and address food insecurity as many are still experiencing financial hardships during this pandemic.”
This grocery distribution is part of a greater effort by Senator Parker to address community issues that have been aggravated by the Coronavirus pandemic. He noted that while food drives and grocery giveaways are “greatly appreciated” his ultimate goal is “to implement more long-term solutions to address food insecurity in his district and the surrounding areas.
