ALBANY- Senator Pam Helming, Ranker on the Legislative Commission on Rural Resources, recently attended a public hearing hosted by the Commission to examine the effectiveness of current flooding emergency and mitigation efforts and to discuss the need for future assistance due to the increase in extreme weather events.
“I have seen firsthand the impact of flooding in the Wayne-Finger Lakes Region. Homes have been destroyed, businesses have shut their doors, and local infrastructure has been crushed. As we prepare for another Spring of more flooding, it is my hope that conversations and hearings like this keep occurring and every level of government continues working together so we can find ways to prevent more flooding. This hearing provided valuable insight, but we must do more. I will not stop fighting on behalf of our shoreline homeowners and small businesses,” Senator Helming said.
