February 21, 2020
ALBANY – Senator Pam Helming recently welcomed local Future Farmers of America students from the Wayne-Finger Lakes Region to her office in Albany. High school students Jazmyne Mitchell, Makayla Selvek, Kelsey LaFave, Samantha Halverson, Taryn Burgess, Emily King, and Camry Semans. This visit came shortly before National Future Farmers of America Week, which takes place this year from February 22nd to February 29th. Senator Helming met with the young women who shared what the FFA program means to them and how important it is to have agricultural programs in schools.
“As so many of us know, agriculture is so important and is the number one industry throughout the Wayne-Finger Lakes Region. I will continue to do everything I can to help our farmers and farm families protect and grow their operations and support the students who wish to have careers in agriculture in the future. That is why I am proud to advocate for FFA organizations and other similar programs in our schools and recognize National Future Farmers of America Week. It is always so wonderful to have the opportunity to meet our future farmers and learn more about their aspirations,” Senator Helming said.
