Senator Patrick M. Gallivan, (R-C-I, Elma) has been re-appointed the Ranking Member of the Senate Standing Committee on Health as the Senate prepares to begin its 2021 session.  Senator Gallivan will also serve as the Ranking Member of the Senate Standing Committee on Labor.

"I am honored to return to a leadership role on the Health Committee, which is among the most important committees in the Legislature," Senator Gallivan said.  "Health care is an issue that affects everyone, especially as we confront the challenges of a global pandemic.  It also makes up the largest portion of the state budget.  I also look forward to working with my colleagues as the Ranking Member of the Labor Committee as we examine the impact Covid-19 has had on New York's workforce."

The committees are expected to examine a number of issues related to the state's ongoing response to the Coronavirus pandemic as well as other legislative items, such as the possible legalization of adult-use marijuana.

Senator Gallivan will also continue to serve in a leadership role within the Senate Minority Conference.

Senator Gallivan is past Chairman of the Senate Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction.  He also served as Vice Chair of the Senate Education Committee.

Additional committee assignments for 2021 are expected to be announced in the next several weeks.
