Ritchie Calls for One Year Suspension of Renewal Requirement for Senior Citizen, Disability Property Tax Exemptions

Every year, qualifying senior citizens and disabled individuals are required to reapply for a special property tax exemption at their local assessor’s office—but with the pandemic, getting out to do so has become much more complicated and could put their health at risk.
Recently, I wrote to the Governor urging him to give municipalities the option to suspend the requirement to renew this exemption for one year. Doing so would help protect the health of those most susceptible to COVID-19.
