Senator Rachel May Announces Funding for Library Construction Across Her District

Syracuse, NY - Senator Rachel May (D-Onondaga, Madison, Oneida) is proud to announce over $700,000 in library construction funding to be awarded to libraries in her district. Projects include upgrading lighting, refinishing parking lots, improving HVAC systems, renovating children’s rooms and restrooms, and a complete roof replacement. Below is a list of the libraries to receive funding.
From the Mid York Library System in Madison and Oneida Counties:
- Canastota Public Library -- $16,433.00
- Cazenovia Public Library -- $40,450.00
- Earlville Free Library -- $14,168.00
- Hamilton Public Library -- $64,500.00
- Morrisville Public Library -- $7,500.00
- New Woodstock Free Library -- $35,475.00
- Oneida Public Library -- $31,500.00
- Sullivan Free Library -- $96,450.00
- Kirkland Town Library -- $33,067.00
From the Onondaga County Public Library System:
- Liverpool Public Library -- $186,913.00
- NOPL North Syracuse -- $127,418.00
- Beauchamp Branch Library -- $33,907.00
- Hazard Branch Library -- $31,635.00
- Salina Free Library -- $9,300.00
“As a huge advocate for local libraries I am incredibly happy that so many in my district have received funding for necessary renovations and improvements,” said Senator Rachel May. “Especially in a time when libraries have taken on so many additional roles in our communities, it is critical that they continue to receive state funding to provide the best possible resource for us and our neighbors. Many of these projects will improve access and safety for visitors, like improved restrooms and HVAC systems, while others, like new roofs and parking lots, will ensure our libraries are in good condition for years to come.
