Senator Mayer, Assemblyman Otis and Local Officials Host Virtual Summit with Governor Cuomo’s Office, NYS & Westchester County Departments of Health, and Other Agencies to Discuss Containing the Surge of COVID-19 Cases in Port Chester

Senator Shelley Mayer and Assemblyman Steve Otis along with Port Chester Mayor Fritz Falanka, County Legislator Nancy Barr, local elected officials and community leaders are hosting an important virtual summit meeting with New York State and Westchester County Department of Health officials, to help the Port Chester community curb the spread of COVID-19. The summit is scheduled to take place Thursday, December 3rd at 10:00 AM and will focus on getting critical public health information out to community members, not-for-profit leaders, clergy and school leaders. New York State and County Department of Health officials will discuss guidelines and provide access to resources to help slow the spread of Covid-19 in the community.

The virtual summit will include: Senator Shelley Mayer, Assemblyman Steve Otis, NYS Governor’s Office, NYS Dept. of Health, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, NYS Dept. of Labor, Westchester County Dept. of Health, Village of Port Chester Mayor Fritz Falanka and County Legislator Nancy Barr.
Senator Shelley B. Mayer said, “Thank you to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Office for facilitating this discussion with the NYS & Westchester County Departments of Health, NYS Department of Labor, NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, and other colleagues. Due to a number of unique factors, Port Chester has been struggling to contain the number of COVID-19 cases in the Village since the early months of the pandemic. Now an ‘Orange Zone,’ we must continue to work together to curb the spread of the virus. As we head into the winter months, this summit will disseminate important information to the community to ensure compliance on best practices to slow the spread of the virus. The Port Chester community must know we are here to help and here to listen to new ideas and suggestions.”
Assemblyman Steve Otis said, “The purpose of the Covid-19 Summit is to provide and share key public health information and resources that will mobilize everyone in Port Chester to stop the spread of this dangerous disease. Our state and county Department of Health partners are working with us to make sure we reach every family and individual in the village. Please join the Summit and be part of defeating Covid-19 in Port Chester.”
