(VALLEY STREAM, New York) - Today, Senator Todd Kaminsky and Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages announced that he helped secure $17,229 in Library Construction Aid from the New York State Library and Education Departments for the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library. The funding allows for an upgraded and expanded video surveillance system to improve library monitoring for staff and patron safety, as well as library security.
“The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library empowers our community, no matter their age, to learn, grow and expand their minds,” said Senator Todd Kaminsky. “This funding ensures that the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library can continue to offer this important service, while providing increased levels of patron safety.”
“Libraries are the cornerstones of healthy communities, and one of the truly accessible spaces available to anyone in need. They are a valuable resource and learning institution for people of all ages and walks of life. This grant will allow Valley Stream Library to invest in structural security upgrades that will keep the library open and safe," stated Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages.
“Libraries are an essential, vibrant, and supportive resource at the center of our communities,” said Assemblywoman Judy Griffin. “I was happy to help secure this funding so that the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library will continue inspiring young minds and supporting and welcoming residents of all ages.”
"With the recent additions of a Teen Area and a handicapped ramp, expanded and updated video surveillance is needed to help monitor these areas. The grant will also improve the image quality and feedback capability of the video surveillance system,” said Mamie Eng, Director, Henry Waldinger Memorial Library.
