Sen. Kaminsky Announces $14,730 in Grant Funding for Tempo Groups Telepractice Addiction Services
August 26, 2020
(Rockville Centre, NY) -- Today, Senator Todd Kaminsky announced that Woodmere-based Tempo Group was awarded $14,730 in funding from the New York State Opioid Response Grant to expand their telepractice capacity to ensure access to addiction treatment for individuals and families. The funding is part of a larger award made to 33 providers in all New York Regional Economic Development Zones enhancing the State’s ability to practice telemedicine.
“As we continue to battle the ongoing pandemic, we can’t lose sight of initiatives and efforts to fight another ongoing crisis facing our community: the opioid epidemic,” said Senator Todd Kaminsky, a member of the Senate Health Committee. “Now more than ever, we must double down on providing options for individuals and families struggling to overcome addiction, while taking into consideration COVID-19 safety risks. This funding gives Nassau County residents a flexible and safe option to get the help they need to overcome opioid addiction without compromising their health further.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic has made it increasingly difficult for those seeking addiction treatment to get the help they need to build towards recovery,” says Cindy Wolff, Executive Director of Tempo Group. “The funding from New York State allows Tempo Group to expand our telepractice and serve the people of the greater Nassau County area so they can get treatment safely and efficiently so they can focus on their treatment.”
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine services are being utilized as a safe means of keeping individuals and families engaged in addiction treatment. As a recipient, Tempo Group will utilize the funding to purchase the following technologies to enhance their virtual offerings, including: PCs, software, monitors, speakers, laptops, keyboards, and webcams.
New Yorkers struggling with an addiction, or whose loved ones are struggling, can find help and hope by calling the state's toll-free, 24-hour, 7-day-a-week HOPEline at 1-877-8-HOPENY (1-877-846-7369) or by texting HOPENY (Short Code 467369).
