Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins co-sponsors Health Fair with the Dominican American Club of Yonkers and Council Member Tasha Diaz, October 30

Medical professionals will be onsite to educate women about breast cancer, schedule screenings and also give COVID vaccinations.

(Yonkers, NY) - As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins will attend a Health Fair featuring breast cancer education and medical support. The fair will be held on Saturday, October 30 from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 91 Ludlow St. in Yonkers. Those attending the Health Fair will be educated about breast cancer by onsite health professionals and can make appointments for breast cancer screenings. Attendees can also receive COVID-19 vaccinations at the event, making them eligible to win raffle prizes. 

The event is being held by the Dominican American Cultural Club of Yonkers, in conjunction with Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, Yonkers Council Member Tasha Diaz, and the League of United Latin American Citizens New York Councils 23195, 23055, 21196 and 23198. 

Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins said, “Events such as this health clinic raise awareness about a disease which impacts thousands of our friends and neighbors every year. Deaths from breast cancer can be prevented by educating people about the practices that lead to early detection and treatment. I’m very proud to be part of this effort in our community.”

UPDATE: The subheading in the previous version of this release stated that medical professionals would "get COVID vaccinations" at the health fair. The medical professionals onsite at the Health Fair will give COVID vaccinations to attendees.
