"Last year, New Rochelle became a devastating epicenter of the COVID-19 virus. We remember the extraordinary actions taken by our healthcare heroes and essential workers to try and stop the spread, and we owe them a debt of gratitude each and every day. The virus has taken many lives, and left behind great pain and sadness in Westchester County and across the nation. Today, we remember the lives lost to COVID-19 over the past year in Westchester, and extend our deepest sympathies to the families impacted. In these trying times, let us reflect on our strength and perseverance. We have overcome countless challenges and have come together in new ways to help one another. While, we are by no means out of the woods, we now have some light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine, and I am confident we can beat this virus together."
