Statement on MTA’s Decision Not to Raise Fares at This Time
January 19, 2021
Brooklyn, NY -- The following statement can be attributed to State Senator Andrew Gounardes:
"It is good news that a fare hike is currently off the table, as I advocated and testified for. However, as the fallout from COVID continues to persist and we work towards federal relief, the MTA must commit to no fare increases for all of 2021 -- and no toll hikes either. Any increases would be devastating to hardworking New Yorkers already on the brink and would amount to nothing more than a regressive tax that will hamper our ability to recover strongly from this crisis."
