CARLE PLACE, NY (APRIL 6, 2021) - New York State Senator Anna M. Kaplan (D-North Hills) issued the following statement today in advance of her vote on the 2021-2022 New York State Budget:
Senator Anna M. Kaplan said “As an immigrant to this country, I know the incredible things that are possible when Americans open their hearts to another person in need, and over this past year, I’ve seen countless acts of kindness and generosity, as neighbors helped neighbors, and strangers supported one another through unprecedented hardship and tragedy. As we move forward toward a just and fair recovery that lifts all boats and makes our community whole again, we can’t leave any of our neighbors behind without failing at the basic premise of what it means to be a community. So tonight, when I cast my vote to pass our state budget, I’m not just casting a vote for record school funding, lower middle-class taxes, and over a billion dollars in relief for small businesses, I’m casting my vote for a state budget that will deliver for our community and uphold the American values that we hold so dear."
