Senator Dan Stec today said the law firm chosen by the Assembly Democratic Majority to assist with their impeachment investigation of Governor Andrew Cuomo has a clear conflict of interest.

The Assembly announced today it has retained Davis Polk & Wardwell, LLP.  Mr. Dennis Glazer, a partner at the law firm for more than 30 years, is married to State Supreme Court Chief Judge Janet DiFiore.  Cuomo appointed DiFiore.

In addition, Glazer was appointed Chair of the Purchase College Council and to the New York state’s casino siting board by the governor.

“A thorough investigation free of political or personal influence is critically important,” said Stec.  “Given the strong connection that Governor Cuomo has to Mr. Glazer, my hope is that the Assembly Majority would reconsider.  Taxpayers are footing the bill and deserve to know that this truly will be an independent investigation.”
