In recognition of Women’s Equality Day, Senator Daphne Jordan proudly announces her selection of Kyle McCauley Belokopitsky, Esq., as her 2021 NYS Senate “Woman of Distinction” for the 43rd Senate District

Halfmoon, NY – In recognition of Women’s Equality Day, New York State Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I-Halfmoon) today proudly announced her selection of Kyle McCauley Belokopitsky, Esq., as her 2021 NYS Senate “Woman of Distinction” for the 43^rd Senate District.

Kyle McCauley Belokopitsky, Esq., is a dedicated community volunteer, leader, mom, attorney, and child advocate, and presently serves as Executive Director of the New York State Parent Teacher Association (NYS PTA). A highly respected leader in her community and within the NYS PTA, Ms. Belokopitsky is devoted to supporting children and families, championing family engagement, advocating for students with disabilities, and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Additionally, Ms. Belokopitsky serves as President of Twin Town Little League in North Greenbush, one of the Capital Region’s oldest and largest Little Leagues, supporting 500 players. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she mobilized a successful food drive program, supporting Twin Town families in need, Hope 7 Food Pantry, multiple senior housing centers, and the community. Ms. Belokopitsky also led collections of donations for St. Joseph’s House, Unity House and Hope 7 in Troy, Vanderheyden Hall in North Greenbush, and Rensselaer County senior citizens. Ms. Belokopitsky also is active in the PTA and Special Education PTA at Gardner Dickinson, raising funds to support Gardner Dickinson remaining open full-time during the pandemic.

The New York State Senate’s Women of Distinction program showcases outstanding women living and working in New York State whose personal and professional contributions have greatly enriched the quality of life in their communities and beyond.

At the behest of Rep. Bella Abzug, in 1971 and passed in 1973, the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.” The date was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. This was the culmination of a massive, peaceful civil rights movement by women that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention, in Seneca Falls, New York. The observance of Women’s Equality Day not only commemorates the passage of the 19^th  Amendment, but also calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality. Workplaces, libraries, organizations, and public facilities now participate with Women’s Equality Day programs, displays, video showings, or other activities.

Full Biography of Kyle McCauley Belokopitsky, Esq., Senator Daphne Jordan’s 2021 Woman of Distinction for the 43^rd Senate District:

Kyle McCauley Belokopitsky, Esq., is a dedicated community volunteer, leader, mom, attorney, and child advocate, and presently serves as Executive Director of the New York State Parent Teacher Association (NYS PTA). A highly respected leader in her community and within the NYS PTA, Ms. Belokopitsky is devoted to supporting children and families, championing family engagement, advocating for students with disabilities, and promoting diversity and inclusion.

Ms. Belokopitsky is devoted to her community, her son’s school, and lives by her favorite Dr. Seuss quote: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Ms. Belokopitsky was honored as part of City and State’s “2021 Education Power 100,” and, in 2020, was named a “Hometown Hero” by Senator Daphne Jordan.

As NYS PTA Executive Director, Ms. Belokopitsky focuses on making every child’s limitless potential a reality. During her successful tenure, the National PTA awarded NYS PTA the State Advocacy Award twice, the Diversity and Inclusion Award, a Silver Membership Growth Medal, the Hispanic and Latino Outreach Award, and the Family Engagement Innovation Award, respectively.

Ms. Belokopitsky serves on the New York State Educational Conference Board, WMHT Community Advisory Board, is a past Knight in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for Rensselaer Lodge 2073, and was Fundraising Chair for the East Greenbush Miracle League for Disabled Children. She is a past firefighter and EMT at Defreestville and Menands Fire Departments, served on the NYS Urban Technical Search and Rescue Team, NYRRT-1, and was deployed to Ground Zero on September 11, 2001.

Ms. Belokopitsky represented New York State United Teachers, New York State Council of School Superintendents, New York State Catholic Conference, and was admitted to practice law in New York and the District Court for the Northern District of New York. Ms. Belokopitsky taught Law and Criminal Justice at Hudson Valley Community College, Schenectady County Community College, and Education Law at The College of St. Rose Graduate School of Education, respectively.

Ms. Belokopitsky received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from SUNY Albany, her Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Nelson Rockefeller Graduate School in Albany, and graduated from Albany Law School of Union University with dual concentrations in Civil Litigation and Criminal Justice.

Ms. Belokopitsky, her husband Doug, and their two sons, Jackson and Zach, are longtime North Greenbush residents.
