Halfmoon, NY – During a press conference today, Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m., at Halfmoon Town Hall, Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I,Ref-Halfmoon), and Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Glenville), will stand with, and advocate for, local landlord small businesses financially devastated by policies like the rent eviction moratorium that have had serious unintended consequences.
During this morning’s press conference, Senator Jordan and Senator Tedisco will call for reforms to state programs that aren’t helping landlord small businesses, some of whom have not been paid rent for well over a year – with one landlord not having been paid rent for 17 months! Local landlord small businesses will also speak and be available at today’s press conference to share their personal perspectives as to what they have endured, and are still enduring, and also underscore the urgent need for real relief.
The particulars for today’s press conference are as follows:
Who: Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I,Ref-Halfmoon)
Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Glenville)
Local landlord small businesses:
Joseph Tronco, landlord small business, Town of Halfmoon
Dennis and Mary Ryan, landlord small business, Town of Brunswick
Rosie Karame, Mortgage Tax Supervisor at Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola’s Office and landlord small business, City of Troy
Chris Morris, Founder, and Executive Director, Schenectady Landlords Influencing Change
What: Press conference today to advocate for local landlord small businesses financially hurt during the COVID-19 pandemic and call for reform to state programs that aren’t helping these small businesses
When: Today, Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m.
Where: Halfmoon Town Hall, 2 Halfmoon Town Plaza, Halfmoon, NY 12065
Why: Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many landlord small businesses across New York State haven’t received rental payments and face severe financial hardship. To make matters worse, state programs intended to help have delivered almost no assistance to struggling landlord small businesses.
