New City, NY - Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, (D-Rockland/Westchester) has released the following statement regarding former President Donald Trump headlining the NYS Republican Party’s fundraiser event at the Briarcliff Manor in Westchester County, located in the 38th district which the Senator represents.

“Donald Trump was the worst president in American history. He promoted bigotry, exploded the national debt, weakened our position in the world, and his mismanagement of the COVID pandemic cost tens of thousands of lives. Most seriously of all, he led an unprecedented attempt to overturn an election and continues to attack the foundations of our democratic system.

For the NYS Republican Party to honor a man like this should make it very clear to every voter in New York where the party’s priorities lie. And the hypocrisy of New York Republican leaders in calling for Governor Cuomo’s impeachment for sexual harassment while they celebrate a man who bragged on tape about committing sexual assault and has been credibly accused of assaulting more than 20 women, will not be forgotten.”
