Following the Passage of Build Back Better in the House, Rep. Jones and State Senator Ramos Partner to Ensure the Federal and State Government are Collaborating to push for Universal Child Care
White Plains, NY - On Wednesday, Dec 15th, 2021 at 11:00 am at YMCA White Plains Early Learning Center (148 Hamilton Ave, White Plains, NY 10601), Congressmember Mondaire Jones (D- NY17) and State Senator Jessica Ramos (D, WF - SD13) will tour a child care center with Liuba Grechen-Shirley, State Senator Shelley Mayer (D-SD37), and Assembly Member Amy Paulin (D-AD88) to meet with child care providers and get feedback on their respective pieces of universal child care legislation on the federal and state level. This event is happening as the House celebrates the passage of Build Back Better, and the New York State Legislature prepares for its 2022 legislative session.
Senator Ramos has been visiting child care centers across the state since with her Assembly partner, Sarah Clark (D-AD136), in preparation for introducing state-level universal childcare legislation that will support and expand the federal efforts to increase access to childcare for working families. As a Member of the House Education and Labor Committee, Rep. Jones helped lead the successful effort to include a universal child care provision in the Build Back Better Act that passed the House last month.
After the tour, Congressman Jones, Senator Ramos, and Liuba Grechen Shirley will be available to respond to questions.
