QUEENS, NY – Today it was reported that New York State Senator Luis Sepúlveda, representing the 32nd Senate District, is facing an allegation of domestic violence. Per reports, the Senator has now turned himself in to the police and is being charged with criminal obstruction of breathing.
State Senator Jessica Ramos issued the following statement:
"Domestic violence is never acceptable, and I condemn any and all incidents of this sort of family trauma that continues to impact so many New Yorkers every year.
These allegations should not be taken lightly, and I commend the Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins for her leadership and swift decision to remove Senator Sepúlveda from his chairmanship and committee assignments. If these allegations are found to be true, the Senator must do right by his constituents and resign. As a thorough investigation continues, I wish the best possible outcome for the family.
