Senator Ramos Statement on Governor Hochul Labor Day Bill Package
Senator Jessica Ramos

QUEENS, NY — “This Labor Day, we make history for New York’s workers with two bills signed into law by Governor Hochul. Signing S2766 into law will address rampant wage theft in the construction industry—making it easier for construction workers to fight back against unscrupulous contractors and subcontractors and win. Strengthening the benefits for New Yorkers in the Shared Work Program, via S4049, will allow employers to keep their workforces on the payroll longer while simultaneously allowing their employees to supplement their reduced earnings with unemployment benefits. I thank the Governor for taking soonest action that will put more money in working families’ pockets and look forward to continuing our work towards a fair and inclusive recovery.”
