Senator John Mannion on the Inauguration of Kathy Hochul as the 5th Governor of New York State

SYRACUSE – Senator John W. Mannion (D-Geddes) today released the following statement:

“The historic inauguration of Governor Kathy Hochul begins a new era in Albany – one that I believe will be defined by trust, honesty, and integrity. She is the right person at the right time who will work across government to deliver real results for every New Yorker. Governor Hochul has my total support as she assumes the enormous responsibilities of her office.

“As the first woman ever, and the first Upstater in a century to serve as Governor, I know firsthand that she understands and cares deeply about Central New York families, schools, and businesses. I value our established working relationship and I know that it will serve our region well. 

“I strongly commend her efforts to recruit a new senior leadership team to help forge a positive path forward. New Yorkers deserve transparency and integrity from top state officials and I’m confident they’ll get it from the Hochul Administration.

“We all know the challenges facing New Yorkers are immense. The pandemic rages on, confusion and concern abound as schools work to safely welcome back students and faculty, an ever-growing crisis of overdose and addiction, the need to get billions in rental assistance out the door, and a workforce crisis among those who care for disabled New Yorkers that is spiraling out of control.
